Covid Booster Shots: For Better or Not?
Health officials and distribution points are ramping up advisories and accessibility throughout Maryland for bivalent Covid booster shots, which target the most common Omicron variants, this fall season. Though infection rates are significantly down, the expectation is that a spike will inevitably occur as the weather turns colder and more public activity takes place indoors (thus, more contraction).
By now, it’s possible (likely) that you’ve already contracted Covid at least once, maybe twice—even if you’ve had vaccines and boosters. Have the boosters helped you? Have you experienced lingering symptoms from them…or “long Covid,” for that matter? Do you think your own antibodies are enough protection or not?
What do you think of the newest Covid booster shots and will you get one?
Here’s what you said:
I already got my shot at the Safeway on Forest Drive, along with my flu shot. To my knowledge, I have not had COVID. This is my 5th shot. Thanks.

I plan to take y 3rd booster and flu shot the end of September.

No more shots for me. I fear the side effects more than Covid.
Anne Hemmer, Annapolis
I have gotten 2 shots & 2 boosters so 4 vaccines so far. I am a high risk person with multiple health issues & have been very careful. I have not had Covid yet & hope not to get it but I realize that is unlikely. I have seen the damage it can do & I will get a yearly booster just like I get my flu shot if that is what is best.I don't want to get sick or worse & I don't want to get anyone else sick.

I'm not a doctor. I defer to doctors when it comes to other health issues. I'll defer to doctors when it comes to boosters even though I've been boosted and have had a mild case of COVID. They're free. Generally, there are little to no side effects. I really don't understand why any rational person who hasn't experienced severe reactions to the original shots would pass up the boosters. They may help and there's no downside. What is there to lose?

Got it this morning.
