ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Kent County Family YMCA and toured businesses in downtown Chestertown.

Kent County Family YMCA. Governor Hogan was joined by local leaders and elected officials to celebrate the opening of the new Kent County Family YMCA in Chestertown. The Hogan administration invested $500,000 to help build the new facility, which includes a wellness center, multi-purpose cardio rooms, an indoor track and gymnasium, and an indoor swimming pool. Since opening in January, the YMCA has gained 3,700 members.
“It’s wonderful to be back in beautiful and historic Chestertown as we celebrate the ribbon cutting for this state-of-the-art facility,” said Governor Hogan. “I want to sincerely thank everyone who has been involved in this exciting project. Thank you for choosing to invest in the YMCA and the future of Chestertown, and also for being part of our efforts to continue changing Maryland for the better.”
Watershed Alley. Governor Hogan visited Watershed Alley, a Chesapeake Bay-inspired restaurant that opened in Fall 2021. Watershed Alley is a recipient of funding from Project Restore, the state’s $25 million initiative to revitalize vacant retail and commercial space.
Downtown Chestertown. While visiting downtown, the governor stopped to meet with the owners of several local businesses including Welcome Home, Chester River Wine and Cheese, Zelda’s Speakeasy, Tiny Tots Boutique, and Modern Stone Age Kitchen.

LaMotte Company. Since 1919, LaMotte Company has manufactured analytical reagents, laboratory equipment, and portable chemical test kits for worldwide distribution. The governor toured LaMotte’s facility and met with staff.
