The St. Michaels Community Center on Railroad Avenue was transformed into a festive holiday gathering place where friends and neighbors shared holiday cheer and a delicious dinner. On Saturday, December 24, approvximately 76 meals were served to community members. This bountiful feast included ham, turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, rolls and a delicious assortment of desserts. The meal was a delicious success thanks to the following local businesses/individuals for their food donations: Mark Chew from Marco's, John Mason at Town Dock, Jack and Delores Antwerpen at Sweeties, Ann Borders, Andrea Gray and help from Ilene Morgan. A special thanks also goes out to Graul's Supermarket for not only providing delicious rolls but also for allowing us to set up a collection site for non-perishables at their store so that each guest at the dinner could receive a bag of groceries as they left. SMCC has been serving holiday dinners for 3 years and will strive to continue to provide holiday meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Over a dozen volunteers made the guests feel welcome in addition to setting up, serving and cleaning up. Volunteers from the Talbot County 4H Club and St. Michaels Middle and High Schools include: Julianna Burns, Zach Dewitt, Cody Dewitt, Andrea and Doug Gray, Karen Moaney, Helen Moore, Christine Plank, Leslie and Amaiyani Rodriguez and Karen and Langley Shook. Holiday music was performed by popular, local artists Rick and Zuzu Forrest.
