WASHINGTON, DC – Warriors from across the nation will join Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) for its nationally recognized injured veteran cycling program, Soldier Ride®, on Tuesday, June 21, in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Soldier Ride uses modified equipment and riding techniques to empower wounded veterans to maximize rehabilitation methods and live active and healthy lives, bringing awareness to the needs of veterans who sacrificed for our country.
Reintroducing the unique bonds of military service to the recovery process, Solder Ride helps warriors overcome physical, mental, and emotional wounds through adaptive exercise. Reconnecting warriors to one another in the civilian world is critical to healing, which is why WWP is dedicated to ensuring every injured veteran supports each other in recovery.
According to the 2021 WWP Annual Warrior Survey, the likelihood of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms is 57% lower among warriors who have maintained the social support of their military friends. WWP is committed to improving the physical and mental well-being of veterans, and Soldier Ride is an opportunity to address both needs head-on.
The Washington, D.C. stop is one of many that Soldier Ride makes across the nation, visiting dozens of cities, including New York, Chicago, San Diego, Portland, and Pittsburgh. While the location of each ride changes, one thing remains the same: Soldier Ride connects warriors to each other and their local communities, creating a strong support system to help them manage the visible and invisible wounds of war. The program continues to have a lasting, restorative impact on countless veterans and service members year after year.
