Oxford, MD - During the December 2024 Public Meeting, the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture (MCAAHC) and the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum (BDTM) were recognized by the Association of African American Museums (AAAM) for their role on the host committee for the 2024 AAAM Conference held in Baltimore in August. Dr. Vedet Coleman-Robinson, President & CEO of AAAM, presented the 2024 Host Committee Award on December 2 at Waters United Methodist Church in Oxford, MD.
The BDTM hosted a post-conference excursion to the Banneker-Douglass-Tubman Museum, followed by a scenic boat tour with a Maryland crab feast on Watermark's Catherine Marie. Blacks of the Chesapeake, founded by the late Vincent Leggett, and Harriet Tubman Tours provided an enlightening presentation on the rich Black history of the Chesapeake Bay.
