Annapolis, MD - The MSP Polar Bear Plunge Returns to Sandy Point State Park in 2022 after having to go fully virtual in 2021 due to COVID-19. A Statement was shared to the event website stating that "A fully Virtual Plunge was not what we had in mind for our 25th anniversary, but the health and safety of you and our Special Olympics Maryland community is our top priority. We hope that you will help us keep this Maryland Tradition alive, by participating in our first-ever Virtual Plunge! No matter how you plunge this year, your commitment to the Polar Bear Plunge is supporting the 8,716 Special Olympics Maryland athletes across the state." Despite going fully virtual last year, with continued support the event still was able to raise over 1.9 million dollars for Special Olympics Maryland.
This year there will be the option of participating both virtually or in-person at Sandy Point State Park to support Special Olympics Maryland. The Cool Schools Plunge will take place on February 3rd, Police and Corporate Plunge on February 4th, and the Maryland Plunge on February 5th, 2022.
