Annapolis, MD - The United States Naval Academy (USNA) has recently partnered with the coalition Face the Fight as a government liaison, becoming the first military service academy to collaborate on the joint effort to support military and veteran suicide prevention. Founded by USAA, the Humana Foundation, and Reach Resilience, Face the Fight is a coalition of corporations, nonprofits, and military and veteran-focused organizations working to break the stigma surrounding suicide in the military community by fostering open conversations and offering support.
“We believe the fight to prevent military and veteran suicide should begin early,” said USNA’s Superintendent Vice Adm. Yvette Davids, “and we are committed to equipping our midshipmen with the support and skills they need to become the next generation of resilient leaders in the Navy and Marine Corps. USNA is proud to amplify our efforts to support warfighters through our connection to Face the Fight.”
Service members and veterans who are in crisis or having thoughts of suicide can call the Military/Veterans Crisis Line for confidential support available 24 hours a day by calling 988 and pressing 1, texting 838225, or starting a chat online at MilitaryCrisisLine.net.
