The Navy Midshipmen treated the home crowd at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to another easy victory on Saturday as they trounced conference foe East Carolina, 42-10.
The Mids shot out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 28-3 lead after scoring on its first four drives of the game.
Malcolm Perry led the charge, running for 156 yards and four touchdowns. He also took advantage of the Pirates defense through the air, completing only five passes, but for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Perry became the first Navy player to rush and pass for at least 150 yards since Ricky Dobbs against Arkansas State in 2010. He also became the first Midshipmen to be responsible for six touchdowns since Keenan Reynolds torched Georgia Southern for seven touchdowns (six rushing, one passing) in 2014.
C.J. Williams led all Navy receivers with 117 yards and two touchdowns on three catches, including an 80-yarder in the third quarter.
The game took a serious turn when East Carolina defensive back Davondre Robinson had to be taken off the field on a stretcher after colliding with a teammate with less than five minutes to play. Robinson gave a thumbs up as he was driven off the field.
The Midshipmen have another bye week and return to action on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. when they travel to take on the Memphis Tigers on ESPN. Navy returns home to face Air Force on Saturday, October 5 at 3:30 p.m on CBS Sports Network.
