Time Magazine Recognizes Arundel High School
Time Magazine wrote a piece about the discussion on the presidential election with members of the freshman class at Arundel High School. "The lesson was part of a class that Arundel High Principal Gina Davenport created after the 2016 election, in which Anne Arundel County split almost evenly between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Maryland State Board of Elections Announces Same-Day Registration Records
The Maryland State Board of Elections announced the 2020 general election set records for same-day registration and neared the record high for same-day address changes in the state. The State Board also posted the latest data regarding the count status of mail-in ballots for the 2020 general election.
During early voting this year, 12,728 Marylanders took advantage of same-day registration, up from the previous early voting high of 7,884 during the 2016 general election. A total of 13,575 people registered on Election Day in this year’s general election, up from 1,042 in the 2020 primary election.
In all, 26,303 Marylanders took part in same-day registration during the 2020 general election, up from the previous total of 7,884 in the 2016 general election in which same-day registration on Election Day was not available.
A total of 7,311 Marylanders took advantage of same-day address changes in the 2020 general election, second only to the 2016 general election (8,055).
