Local Businesses Unite: Blue Lotus Yoga Studio to Offer Outdoor Classes at Annapolis Sailing School
Blue Lotus Yoga Studio (BLYS) is holding outdoor yoga and fitness classes at Annapolis Sailing School for the fourth consecutive year. When the partnership began in 2018, BLYS offered just 5 weekly classes on the Sailing School’s floating platform, which can safely fit 25 socially distanced students. Over time, the relationship evolved to include 17 outdoor classes a week plus a variety of special events, including a Summer Solstice Bash, an Oktoberfest, Full Moon Restorative Yoga classes, and Sailing, Yoga & Wine nights. In the past, classes on the floating platform kicked off Memorial Day Weekend and concluded Labor Day Weekend. But with COVID-19 restrictions still firmly in place, outdoor activities are especially sought after. To that end, BLYS Co-owners Julie Nogueira and Duffy Perkins recently announced that this year’s season will begin late March and run through the end of October — a full 7 months. Register here.

The event will be on Wednesday evenings from 5 pm to 10 pm with socially distanced dining and live music by local musicians from 6 pm to 9 pm. Diners can choose from the five traditional participating restaurants on the first block of West Street including 49 West Coffeehouse Winebar & Gallery, Luna Blu Ristorante Italiano, Rams Head Tavern, Stan and Joe's Saloon, and Tsunami. Diners can also eat outdoors close to the original area at Level – A Small Plates Lounge, Reynolds Tavern, or take a stroll to Curate for coffee and dessert. Those looking to take in the arts can explore nearby art galleries (Gallery 57 West and Annapolis Collection Gallery) and the new murals that have been recently completed in the area. There is also family entertainment you can add to your night by experiencing an escape room at Mission Escape Rooms or take an art class at Wine & Design.
Miss Shirley's Continues to Feed First Responders
Thanks to donations from our loyal guests, Miss Shirley's Cafe has been able to provide over 1,050 meals to local Healthcare Workers, Police, Firefighters & Charitable Organizations. This cause has become near and dear to our hearts, as these donation orders have not only supported our area's First Responders, but have also allowed us to keep our dedicated team working, focused and motivated during difficult & uncertain times for our industry in the last year. This is why we were overwhelmed with gratitude after receiving an incredibly generous gift from George Roche, which allows our restaurant to make a much larger impact in supporting thousands of those who continue to put their lives at risk to serve our community, including the University of Maryland Medical Center ER & Shock Trauma Clinic Staff and Baltimore City Southern District Police Officers, who recently received Shirley's meals! From the entire Miss Shirley's Cafe team, we extend our heartfelt thanks to George Roche, as well as all of our other supporters, whose gestures of kindness continue to make a difference in our communities.
