AACASA Receives $35,000 Grant from the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County CASA, Inc. (AACASA) receives a $35,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel Couty (CFAAC) to support its mission to advocate for abused and neglected children in foster care. The award comes from the Fund for Anne Arundel, a fund of CFAAC. The CFAAC’s long-term goal is to build permanent funds that provide support to local nonprofit organizations through grants and special projects. In 2019, CFAAC distributed nearly $3 million to a variety of nonprofit organizations.
Green Give 2020 Pop-Up Store through July 13
Arundel Rivers Foundation is having a pop-up store for GreenGive now through July 13. GreenGive raises money to keep our rivers clean, as well as expands the engagement or residents and businesses with local environmental organizations. First Sunday Arts Festivals are back on West Street
This past Sunday was the return of the First Sunday Arts Festival on the first block of West Street. The festival featured about 55 artists and offered a wide range of arts and crafts for sale in their socially distanced booths. With many of these artists having cancelled events, the goal of this experience is to keep supporting them during this economic hit. New Regulations for Anne Arundel Public Libraries
The Libraries of Anne Arundel County are opening July 6 with new public health and operational restrictions. The new Michael E. Busch Library is scheduled to open July 22. These regulations include the requirement of masks, a limit on the customers allowed in the building, limit on in person computer assistance as well as available computers for use. You will not be allowed to use meeting or conference rooms, toys will be removed from children’s area, no faxing, scanning, or copying services, and returns will only be accepted through the books drop.
Major League Lacrosse is Coming to Annapolis
MLL gave an update of their 2020 regular season last week. The season will begin July 18 and will be played entirely in the city of Annapolis. The season will consist of one week of games played by all six MLL teams. At the end of the week, there will be a final-four playoff. Because of COVID, there will be no fans onsite but the season will air on ESPN Networks and ESPN+.
National Aquarium in Baltimore Reopened
The National Aquarium in Baltimore reopened to the public July 1st. The aquarium is limited to 25% capacity to ensure social distancing and will be monitored by timed ticketing. If you want to visit, but sure to reserve tickets online. Face coverings are mandatory in the aquarium, as well as a temperature check. If your temperature is above 100.4F, you will not be allowed to enter the aquarium and your tickets will be refunded. The 4-D Immersion Theatre and Living Seashore touch pools will remain closed.
