Talbot County Chamber of Commerce will host the 2021 Economic Symposium Virtually
The Talbot County Chamber of Commerce will host the 2021 Economic Symposium on Thursday, September 2 from 8:00 am – 9:30 am, in a webinar format. With the impacts on the regional economy from COVID19 still a major factor, this year's annual event will focus on economic and employment trends, recovery, and resilience. Keynote speakers Anirban Basu, Chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group, and Luke Tilley, Senior Vice President & Chief Economist, Wilmington Trust N.A, an M&T Bank affiliate, will share data and economic forecasts at the county, regional and statewide level.
Originally planned as an in-person breakfast at the Tidewater Inn, Chamber President Amy Kreiner and event sponsors M&T Bank, Tri Gas & Oil, and the Talbot County Department of Economic Development & Tourism made the decision to move to a virtual format out of an abundance of caution due to the rise in Delta-variant COVID19 transmissions in the county. This webinar is open to the public at no charge, and anyone who has already paid the previous registration fee can request a refund by calling 410-822-4653 or emailing info@talbotchamber.org.

Call for Volunteers: Tree Stewards Needed
Have you ever wished there were more trees in your neighborhood? Want to know proper planting and maintenance for native trees? This September, Maryland Tree Stewards is a new initiative from the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, the Maryland Forest Service, and local partners developed to promote, enhance, and increase tree canopy coverage in our urban and suburban environments by training and supporting community volunteers in proper tree planting and tree care practices.
This free training will equip participants with skills to be able to work with neighbors, organizations, and local public agencies within their own communities to organize and lead tree planting projects, assess new potential tree planting sites, care for existing tree canopy, and access a variety of technical and financial resources to support their endeavors. Participants who complete the course will become certified Maryland Tree Stewards.
