Maryland's Newest Artisan Cheese Shop Opens in North Beach
Vaughan Cheese Counter & Bar hosted a media preview and VIP ribbon cutting ceremony before officially opening its doors on September 3rd as the Maryland/DC area’s newest destination for artisan cheeses and handcrafted charcuterie. Owner and award-winning cheese expert Megan Vaughan and acclaimed hospitality professional Tyler Vaughan carefully curate a selection of 75 American cheeses from 45 small family farms for a menu that highlights seasonal items along with sandwiches, salads, wine and beer. The shop also features a classroom for innovative education programs for cheese enthusiasts and restaurant professionals.
Megan Vaughan received a Maryland COVID-19 Small-Business Relief Grant enabling her to evolve her business from a vendor at North Beach’s weekly farmer’s market to a full-scale retail operation. The addition of the shop to North Beach’s Restaurant Row is the most recent example of local developer, RAR Associates’ plan to provide more amenities and resources for local residents while stimulating economic development for all of Calvert County. The North Beach Hotel & Shoppes Waterfront project is on the horizon as RAR works with the North Beach Town Council to revitalize the new business agenda for 2022-23.
