March 30, 2017--The Friends of Queen Anne’s County Li ary recently received a generous donation of $2,700 from Outreach of Symphony Village.
These funds were raised during the 8th Annual Card and Game Party held by Outreach of Symphony Village. More than 100 people attended the event at the Symphony Village clubhouse in Centreville, and the players had a day filled with fun, food, and opportunities to win raffle items, a door prize, a table prize and a 50/50. Carlene Cooke chaired the annual event, and the entire Outreach membership helped to ensure its success.
Each year, Outreach of Symphony Village selects a beneficiary of the Card Party to receive 75% of its proceeds. This year Outreach chose the Friends of the Li ary as the beneficiary. Outreach has provided support to the Friends of the Li ary in past years, but this represents its largest donation to the Friends.
The goal of the Friends of the Li ary is to increase the awareness of the facilities and services of the County Li aries, raise funds for materials that are beyond the scope of the li ary’s operating budget and enrich the cultural opportunities available to the citizens of Queen Anne’s County.
The money donated by Outreach will allow the Friends to fund enhancements to the Centreville Li ary renovations and to continue its annual support of the Li ary’s Saturday Arts Program at Centreville and Kent Island li aries, through which elementary-school aged kids in the community work with local artists to create their own unique projects.
