Maryland Department of Environment Compliance Specialist Reviewed Sediment and Erosion Conditions on Thursday with Developer, City Staff
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Parkside Preserve, a development inside Annapolis City limits on property that abuts Anne Arundel County’s Quiet Waters Park was inspected on Tuesday by the stormwater inspector’s from the Department of Public Works in response to received complaints.
A number of issues were identified. City staff met with the developer, Reliable Contracting Company, to detail a plan to remediate the identified deficiencies. The developer was given a deadline of Friday, October 8 by which to correct the identified issues.
On Thursday, October 7, City staff again visited the site with Maryland Department of the Environment’s (MDE) Environmental Compliance Specialist Adriana Frangos and the developer to inspect the site’s sediment and erosion controls.
- MDE concurs that the site is in compliance with all State and City Erosion and Sediment Control requirements;
- The site overall was satisfactory, according to MDE’s Fragos. She made recommendations regarding minor deficiencies concerning stockpiled materials at the site. The suggested measures were being implemented before the inspection was concluded; and
- Frangos made recommendations to address the turbid discharge from the sediment basin adjacent to Quiet Waters Park. Reliable began working on those recommendations immediately.
As of Thursday, all City requirements and MDE recommendations are being implemented at the site, in addition, the developer agreed not to allow work to proceed before or after the permitted working hours.
All measures required by the City during the Tuesday (Oct. 5) site inspection and meeting with Reliable had been completed as of October 6, well before the October 8 deadline imposed by the City.
