ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND—The Naval Academy Business Services Division (NABSD) is among the employers slated to meet with job seekers during a hospitality industry hiring event Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (VAAAC) and Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) will be hosting at the Crowne Plaza Annapolis on Wednesday, September 29, from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
NABSD is among the dozens of hospitality industry businesses that have expressed an interest in participating in the second of two hiring events hosted by VAAAC and AAWDC since June 2021. Registered businesses include Anne Arundel County Recreation & Parks; Golf Club at South River; GMI Security Services; Titan Hospitality Group (owners of Blackwall Barn, Blackwall Hitch, and Smashing Grapes); Crowne Plaza Annapolis; Live! Casino & Hotel; The Hotel at Arundel Preserve; Buddy’s Crabs and Ribs; and Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, among others.
Individuals who are seeking employment or considering a job or career change are invited to sign up for the free event by visiting www.ApplyAnneArundel.com. To date, 109 job seekers have registered for the event that will showcase more than 250 jobs. Businesses that would like to participate are invited to email Scott Wallace, AAWDC’s Business Solutions Manager, at swallace@aawdc.org to register in advance. On-site registrations will be accommodated on a space-available basis. There is no charge to exhibit at the event.
VAAAC Executive Director Kristen Pironis says while economic recovery from COVID-19 has begun, the hospitality industry has miles to go before revenue streams will return to pre-pandemic levels, and jobs are key to the recovery equation. According to Pironis, “The hiring event is one significant way VAAAC and AAWDC can help hospitality industry employers build the teams they need to provide the optimum visitor experience.”
AAWDC President and CEO Kirkland J. Murray encourages businesses and job seekers to take advantage of the event. As Murray sees it, “The more businesses and job seekers who register for the event, the greater the likelihood that both parties will walk away with what they need – businesses with qualified, motivated employees and job seekers with their foot in the door of one of the largest and most in-demand industries in Anne Arundel County.”
