Annapolis, MD - Nonprofit organization Annapolis Green announced the closure of their downtown Annapolis location, the Annapolis Green House, and expressed their hopes of finding a new location. Founders Elvia Thompson and Lynne Forsman issued the following announcement:
"It’s been a memorable five years at the Annapolis Green House. Now we are sorry to say that it’s time to say goodbye to our office and garden across the street from the State House.
The 92 Maryland Avenue building has been sold and, not surprisingly, the new owner plans to occupy our current space.
While we’ll miss being part of the vitality of downtown Annapolis and especially our cherished Maryland Avenue, moving will allow us to expand our impact into new neighborhoods — informing, inspiring and empowering even more people to stand up for Nature. The Annapolis Green House truly fulfilled our dream to be a small Green community center and the native plants/pollinator demonstration garden has been an inspiration to many.
Annapolis Green is all about bringing people together to create a healthy, thriving community and planet, so we’re looking for a welcoming space where we can create a vibrant workplace and educational garden. Whether in West Annapolis, Eastport or elsewhere in the area, we’re excited to connect and collaborate with friends, new and old, to unearth solutions to environmental challenges facing our community.
We are great tenants and gardeners and are setting expectations high! Our hope is to find a new landlord who will consider having Annapolis Green as a tenant a benefit to the community,
We welcome your thoughts about a possible new home for Annapolis Green.
We are great tenants and gardeners and are setting expectations high! Our hopes are to find a new landlord who will consider having Annapolis Green as a tenant a benefit to the community,
Here is our wish list:
- A commercially zoned house rather than space in a traditional office building
- A visible and accessible location
- Square footage of 600 to 1000
- A garden we can transform into a native and pollinator demonstration
- Parking
- A small kitchen
- Some storage space
- Room for at least four desks and a small conference room
Upon saying farewell to 92 Maryland Avenue at the end of March, we plan to work remotely until we find a place to put down new roots. As always, you can reach us at bay@annapolisgreen.com. We’ll update you between email newsletters on our Facebook Group page.
Who will help us find our new home? We greatly appreciate your ideas as we vigorously start our search!
