Even though the season of giving is in full swing until the end of the year, we are only a few days from Thanksgiving and one short week away from Giving Tuesday. Last year for Giving Tuesday, Riverkeeper, Jesse Iliff, plunge into the frigid river after meeting our fundraising goals. This year, Arundel Rivers decided to raise the bar and celebrate our expanded territory with having 4 staff members take a plunge, one into each of our rivers: South, Rhode, West, and Herring Bay.
The Arundel Rivers Federation uses science, restoration and community action to make the South, West and Rhode Rivers cleaner and healthier. They envision clean, fishable, swimmable waterways for our local communities.
The Federation is dedicated to protecting, preserving, restoring and enhancing the waters of the South River, Rhode River, West River, Herring Bay, and is a member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, Inc. The Federation is full of many objectives to keep the waters clean including reducing and preventing nutrients and other pollutants from entering the waters, advocate for new policies and ensure enforcement of existing laws to protect the waters, and so much more.
To help this Thanksgiving week, donate towards their Giving Tuesday goals and see staff members plunge into the freezing rivers, or volunteer your time clean and dry or wet and messy. Click here to volunteer and donate.
