Habitat for Humanity is all over the country, over 1,400 active affiliates over all 50 states and D.C., but we have one special one right here serving the Chesapeake. Habitat for Humanity works to organize housing in local communities beyond just the U.S., but also in more than 70 countries around the world. “Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works toward this vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent, affordable home”.
Habitat Chesapeake was founded in 1982 and since then has built and renovated more than 750 homes in 18 communities across Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Howard County. These acts have given safety to more than 2,500 deserving children and family members. As well as building and restoring houses, Habitat Chesapeake operates six ReStores which sell new and gently-used furniture, building materials, appliances, and more at discounted prices.
