Crow Vineyard & Winery remains alive and well during these uncertain times. As some of you may know, we are a 365-acre, 3rd generation family farm. We have 100 head of Black Angus cattle, we grow corn and soybean, we manage a 12-acre vineyard with 8 different varietals and a state-of-the-art 5,000-case production winery. Crow wine makes up 2,500-cases, the rest is reserved for our custom crush clients. So not only are we busy working on Crow wine, we are also overseeing wines for four other wineries. With that being said, there is always plenty of work to be done on a farm and we are grateful to be considered essential during this pandemic.
We have a small, tight-knit staff that we have been able to keep busy and who are always following social distancing guidelines wherever they may be working. In the vineyard, under vineyard manager Brandon Hoy’s guidance, we have been finishing up pre-pruning and tying down vines; we’ve even started to see some bud break in our Chardonnay plot. In the winery with our winemaker, Michael Zollo, we have been filtering wines weekly and begun bottling our 2019 vintages. One of those vintages, our 2019 Rosé, has made its debut and is now available to the public, perfect for these wonderful Spring days.
With our Tasting Room temporarily closed for tastings we have relied heavily on curbside pick-up and delivery options to get our products into your hands, and thankfully it is making us whole. In addition to wine, we also have Grass-fed Angus Beef, Local Eve’s Cheese, Langenfelder Pork, Rosé Wine Ice Cream, Crow Coffee by Woodbridge Roasters, Hemp products and eggs when available. We continue to be open Monday through Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.
Each week we have been pushing out sales on a variety of our products, we have been very active on social media and sending out more and more marketing emails to inform you of those sales. Make sure you are on our mailing list or following us on Facebook or Instagram to stay in the loop. During this time, we have become more inventive in how we reach our customers, we’ve started Zoom meetings with our Wine Club members and incorporate virtual tastings with our winemaker, Michael Zollo. We plan to do this weekly and hope to open it up on a larger scale to the general public.
To all of those that have called or emailed us for orders, and who continue to order each week, we want to say thank you, not only are you helping to support a small family farm, you’re also making a safe choice. We welcome you to place an order and get out of the house for a little while, take a drive and get some fresh air and enjoy the views as you come down our farm lane. In due time we look forward to having everyone back on the farm for a glass of wine.
