Experience a Revolutionary Fourth of July with Historic Annapolis

Join Historic Annapolis for a very special Fourth of July Festival! Experience family-friendly fun, history, music, and more as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence on Saturday, July 4th from 12:00 to 4:00pm.

One ticket gets you access to ALL THREE sites in the heart of Annapolis’s historic core: the William Paca House and Garden, Hogshead Trades Museum, and Museum of Historic Annapolis.

William Paca House and Garden:

Enjoy a 30-minute guided tour of this National Historic Landmark, home of William Paca (one of Maryland’s four signers of the Declaration of Independence) and his family and household, featuring Annapolis Living Historians.

Festivities continue in the beautiful two-acre garden with face painting, hands-on historic crafts, live music from Peter Brice and the New Century Irish-Arts Company, and a colonial beer garden serving beer from Crooked Crab Brewing, lemonade, and other refreshments.

Don’t miss a special feature at 1:00pm, when you can meet Frederick Douglass (portrayed by renowned living historian Nathan M. Richardson) and hear an excerpt from his famous speech, “For What to a Slave is the Fourth of July.”

Museum of Historic Annapolis:

Step into our American Story and experience Annapolis through 400 years of history. Begin with an inspiring short film, then explore our three floors of exhibits at your own pace, discovering diverse stories and amazing objects from our city’s shared history.

You can also check out our brand-new exhibit in the museum’s community gallery, The Power of One: 250 Years of Annapolis Changemakers. In celebration of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, this new exhibit shares the under-told stories of 17 individuals who helped transform Annapolis from a colonial capital to a vibrant, inclusive community, exemplifying what it means to be both an Annapolitan and an American.

Experience additional presentations with Frederick Douglass reenactor Nathan M. Richardson at 2:00pm and 3:00pm.

Hogshead Trades Museum:

Stop by and enjoy traditional fiddle music and other lively sounds of the Revolutionary era. Discover how music was used during the American Revolution for entertainment, marching, and morale. Dance and sing along to “Yankee Doodle” as you learn the surprising origins of this beloved patriotic tune.

Until June 30th, rates are just $15 for general admission, $10 for Historic Annapolis members and military, $5 for children age 3-17 and free for children under 3. Prices increase by $5 on July 1st, so book early and save!
