Summer is a time for kids to unwind outside school in an engaging and safe environment. Summer Camps offer just that and each year parents have a seemingly endless list of camps to choose from. This year, more than ever, kids – and their parents! – deserve a great summer camp experience. We’re here to help! Arts, Dance and Music camps are a key way to engage your child while school is out fostering their confidence along the way. Locally, Maryland Hall in Annapolis serves as the core of arts and dance day camps. They’re also the home of local legend and world-renowned guitarist Paul Reed Smith’s summer camp, returning this August virtually. (Sign up for notifications and updates on the Paul Reed Smith & Maryland Hall Virtual Music School website.)
This year’s in-person Arts Camps will follow all CDC guidance and local health restrictions for safe COVID-19 measures. Students and Teaching Artists will all be masked and some instruction may take place outside in an outdoor classroom.
When it comes to the arts, Holly Rosario, a Teaching Artist at Maryland Hall says, “In an educational system where everything is so to the numbers and whether kids are proficient or not, art is the one place we have left where kids can express themselves and have it not be right or wrong but about growth and understanding themselves.” This summer, Holly and her colleagues will lead over 35 day camps for ages ranging from 5 through teens in art mediums like dance, clay, drawing, painting, animation and even emojis. Uniquely, the aforementioned Paul Reed Smith Music Camp is an intergenerational virtual camp open to ages 12 and up – musical families can take the camp together!
Summer camp registration is now open. Because Maryland Hall is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community, scholarships and financial assistance are available.
