Not your run-of-the-mill conference, SED Talks was created by a group of businesses as a means of promoting outside-of-the box thinking and introducing maverick ideas on promoting business and economic development on the Eastern Shore, while preserving the Shore’s distinct culture and heritage.
As a year-round non-profit initiative, SED TALKS seeks to promote economic development and other improvements to quality of life on the Eastern Shore. SED Talks present the successes of the past year and transformational ideas for future growth. As such, the take-aways from the conference are truly action and group oriented.
SED Talks are different from other forums and conferences.
SED Talks, like TED Talks ™, are devoted to:
- Spreading big ideas.
- Changing attitudes, lives and, ultimately, our communities.
- Implementing the strategies that will help transform Delmarva, while being ever mindful of our conservation heritage.
- 15-20 minute talk format--fast and entertaining.
- Promoting a call to action to organize, harness and mobilize the power and influence of high-level senior level executives on the regional and state level.
- A year-round online presence. www.sedtalks.org is currently growing in content and function. Other social media & news outlets are connected as well.
Shore Economic Development is important.
In recent years, the recession notwithstanding, our economic development successes have been few. The public sector desperately needs the help and resources and cross-boundary capability of the private sector.
As the Eastern Shore’s leading patrons, we must be more cohesive, find what connects us, build consensus, and create a working coalition.
