On February 22, 2022, Shore United Bank expanded its branch network and services to the communities throughout Anne Arundel County. Over the last few months, the teams at Shore United Bank and Severn Bank have been working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition for the former Severn Bank customers. They will benefit by having access to 22 additional locations in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia, while also receiving community banking on a larger scale.

Shore United Bank is a full-service community bank with a rich history dating back to 1876, offering innovative banking solutions delivered with the personal touch you expect from a community bank.
As a local community bank, Shore United Bank believes in supporting its communities no matter how difficult the challenge. As more people became unemployed and had limited resources due to the pandemic, the demand for food assistance reached critical levels. Shore United responded to the needs of their communities by donating $20,000 in response to the growing food assistance demands of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Food Banks who worked tirelessly to purchase and distribute food to those in need.

When COVID-19 brought unprecedented changes to the economy, small business owners were immediately worried about what it could mean for the financial stability and future of their businesses. As an approved Small Business Administration (SBA) lender, Shore United Bank immediately developed a process to make Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans available to small businesses in its communities. In 2021, they funded 959 PPP loan applications totaling over $67 million dollars to provide support to local businesses during these unprecedented times.
In 2021, Shore United Bank took part in an impactful project to celebrate African Americans and local history by sponsoring $10,000 to help support the Operation Frederick Douglas on the Hill project unveiled on September 4th. The project, a 24x8 foot mural of Frederick Douglass, painted by world-renowned artist Michael Rosato, was installed in one of the oldest African American neighborhoods and in the same area Frederick Douglass once stood. The mural is a reminder of the importance of unity and diversity that the community can feel proud to uphold.

Also, in 2021, Shore United Bank was honored as the winner of several awards voted by its customers and community members. The Caroline County Chamber of Commerce named them Business of the Year. Readers of What’s Up Eastern Shore Magazine “Best Bank”, “Best Customer Service”, “Best Mortgage Lender”, and “Best Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Loan Advisor”. Readers of the Dorchester Banner “Best Company Over 50 Employees” and readers of the Baltimore Jewish Times voted them favorite bank. Also, readers of the Shore Update in Queen Anne’s County named them “Friendliest Staff”, “A Business that went the extra mile during COVID”, and “A local with the biggest heart”. Finally, they are the winner of the APG Media Community Choice Awards for “Best Bank” and “Best Customer Service”.

As a local community bank, Shore United Bank is committed to supporting its customers, families and communities and they look forward to serving Anne Arundel County.
