Every October, Annapolis becomes the beating heart of the boating world with two iconic events: the Annapolis Powerboat Show (Oct. 2–5) and the Annapolis Sailboat Show (Oct. 9–12). Whether you’re a lifelong boater or someone who just enjoys a good day by the water, these back-to-back weekends offer an unmatched opportunity to explore, learn, and connect.

1. Climb Aboard Boats
One of the biggest draws of both shows is the ability to step aboard hundreds of boats. At the Powerboat Show, you’ll find everything from bass boats to center consoles to luxury cruisers—many available for sea trials right from the Demo Dock. The U.S. Naval Academy will also have a YP training vessel open for tours.
A week later, the Sailboat Show fills the harbor with daysailers, catamarans, and bluewater cruisers. Visitors can walk the docks, explore interiors, and compare models—whether you’re shopping for your next boat or just curious what it’s like belowdecks on a brand-new 50-footer.

2. Shopping
Step into either show and you’ll find hundreds of exhibitors offering everything from state-of-the-art navigation systems to handmade coastal décor. The shopping is part treasure hunt, part gear-up opportunity, and entirely worth the trip.

3. Educational Opportunities
The Annapolis Boat Shows make it easy to boost your confidence on the water. At the Powerboat Show, daily seminars and hands-on workshops cover docking, navigation, and boat maintenance. The Sailboat Show’s First Sail Workshop offers newcomers a chance to learn the basics on the water, while more advanced sessions dive into topics such as offshore cruising, safety, and systems.

4. Plan Your Next Vacation
Not ready to own a boat? You can still chart a course for adventure. The Sailboat Show’s Vacation Basin—sponsored by Cruising World—is packed with charter companies and travel experts. Whether you're dreaming of a bareboat charter in the Caribbean or a family cruise on the Chesapeake, it all starts here.
