What is SimplyPERIO?
A visual exam and digital X-rays reveal a great deal about the teeth and gums, but they do not identify the specific microorganisms present in the mouth. SimplyPERIO analyzes for periodontal disease, tooth decay, yeast and peri-implantitis risk, along with four viral targets.
What does SimplyPERIO test for?
SimplyPERIO looks for bacteria and other microorganisms linked to gum disease, cavities, dental implant infections, yeast and certain viruses. Some of these bacteria are also connected to health concerns elsewhere in the body, including diabetes and heart disease. The report uses color-coded groups to make the findings easier to understand. The red and orange groups contain bacteria more strongly connected to gum disease, while the purple and green groups show other bacteria that may also affect gum health. The results show whether each organism was not detected or found at a lower or higher level.
Often symptomless in early stages, periodontal disease is frequently undiagnosed and untreated. Untreated disease can result in, and has been associated with, systemic disease states such as digestive disease, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, or Alzheimer’s disease.

What to expect
The process is simple. At the appointment, you pour the clear saline rinse into your mouth, swish for at least 15 seconds and spit into the collection tube. Turning the results into a personal plan
When the report is ready, the dentist reviews it alongside your exam, periodontal measurements, health history and individual risk factors. Depending on the findings, recommendations may include changes to home care, periodontal treatment, more frequent maintenance visits or follow-up testing. The goal is not a one-size-fits-all response. It is care based on what is happening in your mouth.
