Annapolis, MD - Billed as the longest International** Tug of War over water in the world , The Tug of War was originally conceived by the residents of Eastport in 1997 when the City of Annapolis used the excuse of a "public works project" to close the Spa Creek bridge that leads to Eastport from Annapolis.

Note: There may be a few walk-up slots on Tug day, but there is no guarantee that MRE will have a shirt in your size-—hence strongly encouraging the advance sign-ups! Slots are available on the Annapolis side and the Eastport side!

- 9:57-10:00 a.m.: Tug Premier-Welcome
- 10:00-10:15 a.m.: Priddy Music Academy
- 10:30-10:45 a.m.: Naptown Sings & Plays
- 11:00-11:45 a.m.: D'Vibe & Conga
- 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m.: Naptown Brass Band (National Anthem; between tugs)
- 1:15-2:00 p.m.: Eastport Oyster Boys
- 2:15-2:45 p.m.: A Classic Case
- 3:00-3:30 p.m.: All You Need
- 3:45-4:15 p.m.: Area 301 (Tribute to John Noel)
The party starts just before 10 am on Saturday, November 8, and first tug is at the crack o' noon!
BUT FIRST, WE MARCH! There ain't no Tug of War without a declaration of war on the City of Annapolis! JOIN MRE THIS MONDAY, OCTOBER 27!! Meet at Federal House at City Dock at 5:30 pm for libations, then march on masse to present our grievances to the powers that be at City Hall! Wear your MRE and pirate gear; bring your flags, noisemakers and tricorner hats; and prepare to make MRE's cause known!!
May the word of our glorious Maritime Republic of Eastport be shouted far and wide across the land! UP THE REPUBLIC!
