Salisbury, MD - Erik Thomas Mezick, 47 of Fruitland, MD swam his last lap on Earth and joined his Heavenly Father on December 29, 2020 when his box truck plunged off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT). Erik lived his life to the fullest and was passionate about anything that had an engine, especially his Mustangs. He was also very enthusiastic about exercise; to the point that he held the number one spot in the nation for the Espresso bike at the local YMCA. If Erik wasn't at the YMCA defending his title he was there swimming laps.
Erik is survived by the love of his life Megan Barron Mezick and their two children Dylan and Hannah.
The Delmarva Dogfish, a Masters swim team at the Salisbury YMCA, who Erik often swam with, will be swimming across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Erik's memory. They will stop along the way for an in water memorial and then continue across the 18 mile span to Virginia Beach.
All funds raised through this event will go to Megan, Dylan and Hannah.
