Assistance League of the Chesapeake® celebrated its 12th annual fundraiser, Let’s Make Magic, on March 28th surrounded by the luxurious greenery of Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville. The event raised funds for the many philanthropic programs provided by the all-volunteer organization.
This year, Assistance League of the Chesapeake, under its Kids In Need program, purchased and packed over 700 uniforms for children in Anne Arundel County providing a shirt, sweat shirt, khaki pants, socks, and underwear to children in Title One schools. With over 27,000 children in poverty conditions and more than 1,000 homeless children in the county, the need is great and the funds generated by the event are put to good use.
In addition to the uniform program, Assistance League volunteers also give their time and efforts tutoring, reading, buying and providing books in schools, emergency kits to the homebound, singing with seniors, and many other activities within the county.
