Master Sergeant Cedric King and his wife Khieda King, with Grammy-nominated artist Eric Benét
The CharityWorks Dream Ball ought together 450 guests on Saturday, September 26th, to raise money for its 2015 partners, Best Buddies and Yellow Ribbon Fund.
One highlight of the evening was a performance by Grammy-nominated singer and actor Eric Benét, who sang two songs. Another highlight was the surprise announcement of the 2015 CharityWorks philanthropy award recipient: Andrew Viola, regional vice-president of Bush Construction. He was honored in recognition of his generous support of CharityWorks and many other charitable organizations.
The event, held at the National Building Museum, in Washington, D.C., raised $300,000 for the two organizations. Best Buddies creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including assisting them in finding and retaining competitive, paying jobs. Yellow Ribbon Fund helps service members and their families receiving medical treatment at Walter Reed or Ft. Belvoir for war-related injuries. YRF provides free lodging, transportation, and any other service a family needs.
