Combining elements of funk, rock, hip hop, jazz, gospel, and a host of other genres, the Paul Reed Smith Band gave a stellar performance at Concert for the Cure, a benefit show held in Fe uary at the Avalon Theatre in Easton.
More than 180 people rocked out to the band's self-described "Chesapeake gumbo" sound, while helping to raise over $17,000 for Susan G. Komen Maryland. All proceeds from the evening benefit the nonprofit organization and its community grant programs, which provide access to screenings, treatments, clinical trials, and support services.
Prior to the show, VIP guests enjoyed a meet-and-greet with the band, along with complimentary hors d'oeuvres, courtesy of local restaurants; wine and beer, including a selection of Devil's Backbone Brewing Company; and one lucky guest scored the winning bid on a signed PRS SE Custom 24 guitar.
Komen Maryland Ocean City Race for the Cure will be held Sunday, April 19th. The day-long event begins at 7 a.m., with races (ranging from a competitive 5K run to a one-mile family fun walk) at 9 a.m. Festivities throughout the day include a survivor parade, a beachwear costume contest, food, kids' activities, food, and music.
