Fish for a Cure - an annual fishing tournament to benefit the Cancer Survivorship Programs within the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute - kicked off this year's event with a reception on Wednesday, September 10th at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
The tournament will be held Saturday, November 8th from sunrise to 5 p.m. on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The weigh-in occurs at 5 p.m. on the dock of Pusser's Caribbean Grille in Annapolis. About 50 boats participate, each with a Captain and at least three anglers. The largest Rockfish wins a cash prize and other prizes are distributed for the "heaviest string of five perch" and the "Grand Slam," which is any three unique species ought to the scale.
At the heart of the event is the Captain's Challenge - a fundraising competition in which each Captain is asked to raise $3,000, with all proceeds benefiting the Cancer Institute.
Following the tournament is the Shore Party from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Annapolis Downtown Marriott. Guests will enjoy plenty of food and drinks, along with a silent auction, live music, and raffles!
