The Details
What can guests expect? A totally 80s party celebrating The Country School's 80th anniversary. Along with typical party standards (i.e. food, booze, and dancing), the main events of the evening are the silent and live auctions. For the silent auction, guests will use their smartphones (although loaners will be available for those in need!) to bid on items like Ravens and Redskins tickets, a guided tour of the National Zoo, a Paul Reed Smith guitar, waterfowl art, and more. The ever popular live auction, which begins at 8:30 p.m., boasts items sure to create a bidding battle or two, like fabulous vacation packages and the Kindergarten quilt. A fitting, and unique, draw to the evening is the surprise celebrity icon, who will give a performance during the event! And look forward to busting a move on the dance floor as DJ Taalib Smith spins 80s music all night long!
Food and drinks? Thanks to the generosity of local restaurants and caterers, the event will feature several refreshment tables inspired by beloved 80s movies, such as the Mystic Pizza table with, of course, various pizza offerings, and the Overboard table with raw oysters and fresh shrimp. Additionally, a cash bar will be available throughout the evening. VIPs will enjoy complimentary appetizers and champagne during the VIP reception from 6-6:45 p.m.
What about parking? There's no need to stress about parking for this event - there's a free parking lot adjacent to the school.
The dress code? It wouldn't be an 80s party without the appropriate attire, so choose a celebrity icon to channel or fashion trend to flaunt - just don't forget the AquaNet! To further encourage those rad outfits, prizes will be awarded to the best dressed attendees.
Are tickets still available? Both general admission and VIP tickets ($80 and $95, respectively) are still available for purchase online at www.countryschoolauction.org. Tickets will be available at the door, too. And, if you can't make it to the party, but want to participate in the silent auction, simply visit www.countryschoolauction.org and bid away!
Where do the proceeds go? Proceeds from the event fund the Country School Parents Association, which supports multicultural assemblies, field trips, school supplies for each student, technology, and athletic expenses.
