Homestead Gardens, in Davidsonville, was a flurry of activity on Saturday, March 21st, during the 11th Annual South River on the Half Shell Live & Silent Auction.
More than 361 guests, walked the red carpet and sipped champagne as they entered into the event, where they were greeted with music from Starr's Jazz band, fresh oysters from John and Lori Orme, and great food provided by The Palate Pleasers, The Honey Hive, and Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company. As the evening continued, guests bid on a variety of items from trips to gift baskets, all graciously donated from local businesses and members in and around the watershed.
Additionally, the South River Federation thanked individuals who had gone above and beyond the call of duty for the South River Watershed. Mike Hollins, owner of Sylva Native Nursery, received the Corporate Stewardship Award. Mary Ann and Terry Sweeney received the Volunteers of the Year Award for all of their hard work on the Poplar Point community project, and the Federation honored the late Captain Walter Jacobs with the South River Hero Award for his commitment to the watershed.
The highlight of the night was the Call for the Cause, where guests contributed to the Federation in support of the "Fund an Intern" and "Support Local Community Projects Campaign."
On behalf of the South River Federation, thank you to all of sponsors, volunteers, donors, and guests, who made this event such a success and "One Shell of a Party!" The Federation is able to move towards a healthier South River because of this support.
Mark you calendars for March 2016!
