Golfers in the Chesapeake BaySavers recent tournament enjoyed several shot contests.
Chesapeake BaySavers Golf Tourney Raises $$$
More than 175 golfers descended on Queenstown Harbor to participate in the Chesapeake BaySavers Fourth Annual Golf Tournament on May 13th. The scenic, critically-acclaimed Lakes and River courses provided a scenic backdrop for the most successful event in the organization’s history, raising nearly $100,000 to support the BaySavers’ ongoing efforts to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay.
This year’s event featured a beat-the-pro contest, a chance to win a car and boat, as well as a barbecue and live auction following the round. Featuring bagpiper music in the morning and a steel drum band in the afternoon, the tournament was a success due to the support of its 46 sponsors, which included The Law Offices of Evan K. Thalenberg, ClearShark H2O, Mackenzie Management, M&T Bank, Moran Insurance, The Iron Rooster, KING Auto, Chesapeake Surgical, Red Coats Global Care, Waterfront Marine, Graul’s Market, The Venable Foundation, The Davis Group, and many others.
Evan Thalenberg, Co-Founder and Board President of the Chesapeake BaySavers, kicked off the event with ief remarks, emphasizing the legislative successes of the BaySavers and their impact on the Bay.

Just this past year, we helped lead the charge to pass some of the most important pieces of legislation in the history of the Bay, and we’ve been able to do that because of the support of the people here today. Waterfowl Festival Selects 2016 Featured Artist/Sculpture
David Turner, who has been named Featured Artist for the 2016 Waterfowl Festival, has a surprise in store for festival-goers; a sculpture minus the usual feathers. As an artist and a naturalist, he is excited about creating a special sculpture to debut at the Waterfowl Festival—a onze likeness of the Diamondback Terrapin.
A fitting choice to represent the conservation mission of the Waterfowl Festival, he will produce the sculpture in three sizes: a maquette or small size, a medium, and a monumental size. Turner finished the smallest size in onze this past June. At the time of press, the maquette version of the Diamondback Terrapin has been rendered in clay at Turner’s sculpture gallery on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
