COMPASS REGIONAL HOSPICE VOLUNTEER RECEIVES HOSPICE CAREGIVER AWARD

Brent routinely volunteers as many as 30 hours a week, visiting with hospice patients in the Centreville Hospice Center and in assisted living facilities where members of the community are receiving hospice care. Williams comments, “Tom is a wonderful ambassador for our volunteer program. He is an example of a caring heart giving back to his community.” This award is open to physicians, nurses, social workers, hospice aides, chaplains, administrative staff, and volunteers of Compass Regional Hospice who care for patients in Queen Anne’s, Kent, and/or Caroline counties. CARE CENTER QUEEN ANNE'S COUNTY CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Looking for something rewarding to do? Join the CARE Center’s “Because We Care” Committee. The CARE Center, Queen Anne’s County’s child advocacy center is seeking volunteers: parents, child advocates, community leaders—anyone wanting to make a difference to help organize and implement fundraising events, garner community support, and lend a hand to ensure the ongoing success of the CARE Center and its mission. The CARE Center coordinates the response to suspected child abuse cases by increasing communication among professional agencies. These efforts work to ensure that victims of child sexual abuse/assault and their non-offending caregivers have access to supports and services in a safe, culturally respectful environment. CASA of the Mid-Shore is a private, nonprofit organization created to advocate for children who are under the protection of the circuit court because of abuse, neglect or abandonment. “Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) works for society’s forgotten children, for their safety and well-being, but also to give them hope,” stated Robin Davenport, CASA of the Mid-Shore Executive Director. ‘CASAs’ are officers of the court and, as such, are ordered to make assessments and recommendations to the judge regarding the best interest of the child to whom they are appointed. Jennifer Field, CASA volunteer asserted, “Intervention can stop the cycle of abuse.
