Transforming Theater One Act at a Time with Sally Boyett of ASC

Captivated by the theater, Sally Boyett knew the career she wanted to pursue at a young age. With hard work and perseverance, Boyett joined the NYC Ballet at the age of 16, but not soon after, realized she wanted to specialize in everything that is theater. She successfully fulfilled her career within theater performing mostly in musicals through Broadway National Tours, European tours, and even worked at Disney in Orlando at MGM Studios.

brbrAfter a long 25 years as a theater professional, Boyett steps off stage, but continues to provide her extensive knowledge and experience from behind the scenes, living her dream as the Founding Artistic Director of Annapolis Shakespeare Company (ASC) and a freelance director/choreographer in the D.C. area.

brbrCatch Annapolis Shakespeare Company’s production of Richard III, a fast paced, dynamic, beautifully written, suspense thriller. Taste of the Towne Centre and Fashion Show
brThursday, March 30th, 7–10 p.m.
brThe Friends of the Light House will present Taste of the Towne Centre and Fashion Show at Great Gatherings. The shops and restaurants in the Annapolis Towne Centre and beyond will be featured. Towne Centre restaurants will provide food tastings. Alumni, volunteers, and employees of The Light House will model the fashion ensembles provided by the area clothing stores. All proceeds will benefit The Light House: A Homeless Prevention and Support Center in Annapolis.

Cocktails for a Cause

brPlease join Acme Bar and Grille for an evening of fun at Cocktails for a Cause benefiting the Wellness House of Annapolis. Featuring specialty cocktails, raffles, and a 50/50 drawing! There is a $20 donation which goes directly to the Wellness House of Annapolis. The Wellness House of Annapolis provides strength and support to those touched by cancer. Services offered include: counseling, support groups, therapeutic music and art, educational seminars, children's programs, and much more. Thanks to the generosity of our community, all services and programs are offered free of charge.

A Night to Fight FA

brPut up your dukes and join the Burrows Hill Foundation in the fight against Friedreich's Ataxia (FA) at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Burrows Hill Foundation will host a silent and live auction, restaurant raffle, dinner, and cocktails. Funds from this event will be used for research to find a cure for FA, a rare, debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disease that affects 1 in 50,000 people.

Annapolis Film Festival

Thursday, March 30th through Sunday, April 2nd
brThe fifth Annapolis Film Festival will take place in downtown Annapolis. More than 70 new and independent films are screened at Maryland Hall, St. John’s College, Asbury United Methodist Church, St. Anne’s Parish Hall, and Annapolis Elementary School. Over 100 filmmakers come to Annapolis to talk about their films with audiences. Festival highlights include the African-American Experience, the Jewish Experience, the Environmental Showcase, panels and workshops, opening night film and after-party, juried shorts competition, and student shorts showcase.

Maryland Chicken Wing Festival

br“No April Fool’s Day joke here,” try some of the region’s finest chicken wings at the Maryland Chicken Wing Festival at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds. Come taste over 40 different kinds of wings from the area’s best chefs, including a build your own sauce station! In addition, for beer enthusiasts, there will be over 30 varieties of draft beer. There’s fun for the whole family including kid’s activities, face painting, and great local music all day long. New this year will be a hot wing eating competition that you won’t want to miss!

Stop, Drop, & Run 5K

brGrab your sneakers and join the Easton Volunteer Fire Department at their third annual 5K and one mile fun run/walk event. The race will take off at the EVFD at 12 p.m. Once you’ve completed the race, head over to the firehouse for a post-race BBQ filled two beers (21+) and music! Use the code “whatsup” for a $5 discount. All proceeds will benefit the EFVD.

Talbot Restaurant Week/Launch Party

brTalbot County welcomes the spring season with its annual restaurant week celebration! Now in its eight year, this week-long event showcases the local dining establishments that feed the towns and communities of Talbot County and offers diners the opportunity to try new restaurants or revisit favorites. The week begins with a much-anticipated restaurant week launch party on Sunday, April 2nd, 2–4 p.m. at The Tidewater Inn’s elegant Gold Ballroom. Ticket holders can visit with their favorite chefs, restaurateurs, and food business owners who also offer generous tastings of their finest culinary creations. March Madness Golf Tournament
