Making Moves in Nashville: The Morrison Brothers Band Takes Country to New Heights

brMoving on from local clubs in Washington, D.C. to Music City in Nashville, Tennessee, The Morrison Brothers Band are making moves to reinvent their sound and get their name heard.

brbrThe band, consisting of brothers Willie (vocals) and Truman (guitar) Morrison, Kevin (guitar) and Matt (drums) Nolan, and honorary brother Derrick Royer (bass) were discovered by Nashville recording artist and fellow D.C. native, Maggie Rose.

brbrFusing elements of southern rock and country, with a newly added genre of funk, The Morrison Brothers Band is currently working on their third offering, including their newest upcoming single, “Loud Love,” set for release on July 14th.

brbrDon’t miss the chance to hear The Morrison Brothers Band, with appearances by Them Vibes and Tom Maxwell, perform their newly released single at Gypsy Sally’s on Friday, July 14th, 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and the event is 21 and over.

brIn its 38th year, the Annapolis Strider's Women's Distance Festival (WDF) is leg six of the Road Runners Club Association (RRCA) WDF Grand Prix Series. The Annapolis Striders WDF also features a Men’s Race after the Women (RATW), which is celebrating its 33rd year. The women will begin at 7:45 a.m. with the men following at 8:30 a.m. This is a race for runners and walkers of all levels of abilities. Awards will be given to the first, second, and third place overall, 10-year age groups, and to the first mother/daughter team.

brStep back in time to the contentious days surrounding the Declaration of Independence and Revolutionary London Town. Join the Continental Army or Continental Marines for musket drills, debates of the merits of independence in William Brown's tavern, and explore how colonists made a living at a Carpenters' Shop and Tenement. Return on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. for the Toast to Independence Party. Raise a glass to freedom like a founding father. There will be costumed interpreters in the uniforms of Continental forces. Live music performed by the Ship's Company Chanteymen will set a festive tone in our historic area. Enjoy cold beer and a warm food truck.

brJoin the Friends of Quiet Waters Park this summer for a fantastic line up of performing artists at the annual Summer Outdoor Concert Series. Grab your blankets and lawn chairs for an enjoyable evening at the parks outdoor concert venue. Baltimore band Fractal Cat emphasizes classic songwriting, a strong vocal presence, and a multilayered psychedelic sound. Originally the solo studio endeavor of songwriter Miles Gannett, the project evolved into a six-piece rock ensemble. Fractal Cat weaves pop songs and vocal craft influenced by greats from Buddy Holly to Smokey Robinson.

brThe Clean Water Concert Series, organized by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) in partnership with the Avalon Foundation, offers free live music and family friendly, educational activities hosted by local environmental and community groups. The series is a way to celebrate our community and raise awareness about what we can all do to help restore health to local rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. Come out to a groove-filled evening of music by the crowd-pleasing XPD’s! They have been together for over 30 years and know how to get their audiences up and dancing with a wide range of musical styles.
