National Travel & Tourism Week (May 4-10)
National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is an annual celebration that underscores travel’s essential role in driving our nation's economy, cultivating vibrant communities and forging connections. Established in 1983, NTTW has become a cherished tradition, celebrating the U.S. travel community and highlighting how travel stimulates economic growth, creates quality jobs, inspires new businesses and elevates the quality of life for Americans every day.
The tourism and hospitality industry in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County significantly impacts Maryland's economy. In 2023, visitor spending injected $4.1 billion into the state economy, attracting more than 6.8 million visitors, and sustaining more than 26,000 jobs (both directly and indirectly), according to the 2023 Economic Impact of Tourism in Maryland Report.
About Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Foundation: Launched in 2023, the Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Foundation (VAAACF) is a nonprofit charitable arm (501c3) that works to invest in and sustain the tourism and hospitality industry through mission-adjacent work. Recognizing the pressing issue of labor shortages in vital, high-growth, high-demand industries that directly support travel and tourism, such as restaurants and lodging, the VAAACF is engaging with partners to find solutions through concerted efforts focused on enhancing workforce development and driving innovation within the hospitality industry. By fostering strategic partnerships, leveraging expertise, and embracing innovative methodologies, the initiatives spearheaded by the VAAACF aim to pave the way for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future for Anne Arundel County’s hospitality workforce while continuing to contribute to Maryland’s overall economic impact and job growth.
