Third Quarter: "As it reaches the three-quarter point in its month, the Moon once again shows us one side of its disc illuminated and the other side in darkness. However, the side that we saw dark at the first quarter phase is now the lit side."

Maryland Fishing Report - June 25th, Composed by Lyndsie Pratt (Click Here)
Rockfish: The biggest fish and highest concentration of fish continues to be north of the bridge, mostly on the Eastern Shore side. Fish in open water from Love Point up to Tolchester, or try the Knolls. The Bay Bridge is also holding fish. Most are on the smaller size, but you can definitely find some nice 20″ fish in the mix. Both jigging and live lining are producing fish right now. Jig 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 oz jig heads with larger baits like Zman Streakz XLs or Bust ‘Em Bait Fat Boys! Around the bridge or other structure, live lining spot or fishing with soft crab will be your best bet!
Perch: Perch have moved out of the creeks and are over hard bottom and around structure. Use bottom rigs or Chesapeake Sabiki rigs and razor clams, worms or grass shrimp over hard bottom, or throw spinners around piers in more shallow water. Out in the bay around structure like the bay bridge, use metal jigs!
Speckled Trout: The speckled trout bite continues to be productive down around the islands in the Tangier Sound, but beware of the biting flies! They can also be caught out of Chesapeake Beach along the shorelines, and in the Little Choptank and the Choptank! Use light jig heads with 3-4 inch paddletails!
Cobia: Cobia are moving up the bay! Look for them around Point Lookout and the mouth of the Potomac and Patuxent. You can sight cast to them with large jigs or bucktails, but bait fishing will also work! Anchor up in 14-17 feet of water and throw chunks of fresh alewife. Be prepared to reel in some rays though, Cobia follow rays! Live eels work well for both bait fishing and sight casting!
Red Drum: Red Drum are moving up the bay as well, and we will hopefully start seeing schools of them in the same area as Cobia. Similar to Cobia, use a 1.5 oz jig with an 8-10 inch bait.
Crabbing: Crabbing continues to be excellent in both Western and Eastern shore rivers and in Whitehall Bay! Handlining from docks is actually working really well in addition to running traps and trotlines. Razor clams have been working the best!
