Our Coming Coast: A Panel Discussion about Climate Change in our Chesapeake Communities
October 20th, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St Michaels
As part of his series “The Coming Coast,” photographer Michael O. Snyder met and photographed a diverse group of people who are actively working to hold back and adapt to the rising tides in the Chesapeake. This panel discussion brings together many of those photographed in “The Coming Coast” for a shared discussion about how individuals from different backgrounds, lifeways, and perspectives can find common ground and work together to protect a shared resource.
October 20th, 6-8 p.m.; The Gallery at MC3, Annapolis
MC3 has partnered with Warrior Music Foundation to present a project, “A Veteran’s Narrative: Healing through Music & Art.” The project entails 6 local artists and 6 local veterans that have been paired with each other. Together they will interpret the veteran's story through artwork that will be created on a guitar. MC3 has selected artists from all backgrounds that specialize in different mediums. This eight month long collaborative project will end with a public art exhibit beginning in September and the reception October 20th at MC3.

Built between 1772 and 1782, the Maryland Inn has been privy to centuries of Annapolis history. It’s a perfect location for dinner and a tour with a ghost guide. The 3-course prix-fixe menu will feature four entrée selections as well as non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from the bar. A ghost tour guide will join you for dessert and share tales about the ghosts of the Maryland Inn. Then, you'll follow your spirited guide for a leisurely stroll through a small section of the Historic District of Annapolis packed with haunted stories. Stop at spooky spots to hear stories told with dramatic zeal of those that have passed. Haunted sites include Reynold's Tavern, Church Circle, and the Maryland State House.
Academy Art Museum and Craft Show
October 21st through 23rd; Academy Art Museum, Easton
The Academy Art Museum’s 25th Annual Craft Show will feature over 60 artists from across the United States on October 22 & 23, 2022, with a special Preview Event on October 21. All proceeds from fees and generous community sponsorships directly support the Museum’s mission of providing meaningful art experiences and education to the Mid-Shore. The Academy Art Museum Craft Show team looks forward to welcoming artists from all craft categories and will work with artists to insure the broadest possible reach with our patrons. We strive to build larger participation in our juried show, welcoming returning artists and selecting first time exhibitors who we believe will have success at the show. With nearly a third of the participants exhibiting for the first time, we typically attract over 2,000 people to the weekend event and we hope to introduce more patrons to our event this year.

See the contractors, DIY experts, and home amenities for you to spruce up your space for the holidays. Hundreds of exhibitors will showcase everything from full kitchen and bath renovations to hot tubs and fire pits for outdoor spaces — plus tools to organize and clean your home. Professional food artist and pumpkin sculptor Nancy Baker will demonstrate how to make your jack-o-lantern the talk of the neighborhood. Over 100 juried craft exhibitors will offer unique gifts for a friend, family member - or yourself! In “Did You Know DIY” with Doreen, the do-it-yourself and crafting enthusiast will educate and entertain during her one-woman show, featuring tips and songs about savvy upcycling and redecorating.

This workshop combines an appreciation for the woods and gardens on the John & Cathy Belcher Campus with the restorative practice of creating nature mandalas. Sanskrit for “circle,” a mandala is a geometric design that represents a journey, starting from the outside and working inward. By slowing down and listening to the voices of nature, people can gain an opportunity to know themselves and the healing qualities of mother nature. Participants will meet outdoors at 90 Ritchie Highway in Pasadena campus to gather natural materials and then create their own mandalas. The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Oct. 21. The cost is $10.
Halloween Happening, Haunted Barn and Hayride

You enjoyed the County Fair with the lights on, but what happens when it's all over? Fear itself is hiding in the corners. Will you be able to survive the darkness awaiting? There is only one way to find out! Halloween Happening is an annual Fall fundraiser. Anne Arundel County Fair, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization not subsidized by the County or State Governments.

Enjoy a 2-hour cruise with live music by The Naptown Brass Band. They are a New Orleans style street band that is taking Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington by storm with their riotous renderings of old favorites and modern hits, all with the solid beat of pure, unadulterated fun. The Naptown Brass Band blasts out high energy grooves for dancing wherever you are. They are dedicated to exposing more of the world to the great tradition of brass bands and second line beats.

The Inner West Street Association is thrilled to announce that registration is open for our first Annapolis Scarecrow Stroll! From October 21st thru November 4th, scarecrows created by local families, organizations, and Annapolis businesses will line West Street from circle to circle. The Scarecrow Stroll is going to be so much fun, don't miss your chance to be a part of it. Registration is $25, and prizes will be awarded to the top scarecrows in each category. The deadline to register is October 17th.
Riva 5K and Kids Dash - Halloween Edition
October 22nd; Annapolis Landing Park, Riva
The Riva Run & Walk 5K is an opportunity for the Riva community to get together to have fun, be healthy, and raise awareness for two local charities: Gigi's Playhouse Annapolis and Arundel Rivers Federation. Our vision is for the event to be family-friendly, fun, non-competitive, and well-organized, but low-key. The 5K will begin and end at the Annapolis Landing Reichardt Park, with a kids dash immediately after the 5K, at 10:15 am. We encourage costumes for this year's event - for kids and adults! Hats will be available for purchase at the event.

The artists of AAA's Gallery 57 West will be at Gallery 57 West selling one-of-a-kind artistically created pumpkins to benefit Annapolis Light House Shelter. To rebuild lives with compassion by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward employment, housing, and self-sufficiency. On Saturday, October 22, 2022, the American Legion will be hosting the “Fun Dog Show.” This event has grown into a local tradition, including the raffle which features gift certificates from local businesses. Registration begins at 9am, with a blessing and parade of all dogs and their owners beginning at 10am. Dogs must be at least six months old and on a leash in order to compete.

Gunston School's Bull & Oyster Roast

The Bull & Oyster Roast will be held outdoors on Gunston’s waterfront campus, overlooking the Corsica River on Saturday, October 22 from 5-9 p.m. The evening includes delicious food provided by Phat Daddy’s BBQ and will feature a variety of oysters, pork, chicken, and beef BBQ, fried chicken and more. An open bar will provide an array of cold beer, wine, sweet tea, fresh lemonade, and a signature cocktail. This year’s event will have a dance floor with Good Vibrations Entertainment playing everything from country music, classic rock, and all the favorites from the last few decades. With both a silent and live auction planned, guests will have the opportunity to bid on an array of fantastic vacations, golf outings, professional photography sessions, artwork, and more. This year’s live auction portion will be limited to just five big ticket items, leaving more time to scoot around the dance floor and shoot the breeze with fellow parents, faculty, alums, and community members.
