Chesapeake Film Festival Free Screening

The Chesapeake Film Festival in partnership with the Maryland State Arts Council and the Talbot County Free Library is thrilled to present a FREE back-by-popular demand screening of the critically acclaimed film “Call Me Dancer” at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton, Maryland on Friday, January 17, at 4:00 PM. The award-winning film was a prominent festival highlight this year. It tells the story of a young street dancer from Mumbai whose passion and determination lead him on a transformative journey to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional dancer against all odds.

Annapolis Opera's Trouble in Tahiti

American Blues: The Diverse, Delicious Story of the Chesapeake Blue Crab, Presenter - Kate Livie

Chesapeake writer Kate Livie explores the history of the Bay’s crab industry and its impact on cuisine and culture. She shares stories of underrepresented figures, from enslaved cooks to Black entrepreneurs, immigrant merchants, and migrant workers. Livie also discusses how climate change and globalization threaten the future of the iconic fishery.
The St. Andrews Foundation of the Eastern Shore's The Robert Burns Supper
January 25th; Oxford Community Center, Oxford
The St. Andrews Foundation of the Eastern Shore is launching a campaign to fund charitable causes around the Eastern Shore. The Robert Burns Supper is its first fundraiser to finance study abroad scholarships. SAFES will be expanding its charitable mission in the months ahead. It’s an intriguing mix—bagpipes, haggis, scotch, kilts, poetry…and charity. It’s all on the menu for the upcoming Robert Burns Supper. The supper is a fundraiser for the St. Andrews Foundation of the Eastern Shore. SAFES Chair Donna Cantor says, “All are welcome, and you don’t have to be Scottish or clad in tartan to enjoy the fun.”
