Annapolis Maritime Museum Winter Lecture Series

Five Free Boys Kidnapped into Slavery and their Astonishing Odyssey Home: An incredible story of five boys whose courage forever changed the fight against slavery in America. This story shines a glaring spotlight on the Reverse Underground Railroad, a black-market network of human traffickers who stole away thousands of legally free African-Americans to fuel slavery’s rapid expansion in the decades before the Civil War.
BSO Presents Tchaikovsky Manfred Symphony
January 20th, 8-10 p.m.; Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Baltimore
Don Juan, the work that launched the career of Richard Strauss, leads a powerful program. Giving voice to Maryland native and American abolitionist Frederick Douglass, Wordsmith joins the BSO and guest conductor Robert Trevino in a world premiere by James Lee III commissioned by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the Rochester Philharmonic. Tchaikovsky’s Manfred Symphony, one of the greatest programmatic symphonies of the 19th century, is also featured on the program.
Painting as an Expression of Emotion and Belief Workshop

John Brandon Sills will give a lecture on using painting as a means of expressing personal beliefs and philosophies, the fundamental aspect that gives a painting emotional impact.

Have you ever wanted to become a beekeeper but didn't know where to start? Well this class is for you! Join us for this exciting and informative class on the basics of beekeeping and start your journey to becoming a beekeeper. Classes will be taught every other Saturday starting on January 22nd for 6 sessions from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. via Zoom and at the Wye Research & Education Center, Queenstown.
The First Annual Prince George's School Choice Week School Fair

PAEO presents The First Annual Prince George’s School Choice Week School Fair on January 22, 2022, offering families and educators the opportunity to learn about charter and independent school choice options. More than 40 independent and charter schools from Maryland and Washington, DC will be represented. We expect 300 people at the event. The fair will also include workshops, educational information, vending, A STEM Pavilion by Patriots Technology Training Center and entertainment.
Talbot County Garden Club Winter Lecture Series

The Talbot County Garden Club was established in 1917 to enrich the natural beauty of the environment by sharing knowledge of gardening, fostering the art of flower arranging, maintaining civic projects, supporting projects that benefit Talbot County and encouraging the conservation of natural resources. Noteworthy projects include maintaining the grounds of the Talbot Historical Society, Talbot Library, the fountain and childrens’ gardens at Idlewild Park, and numerous other gardens and activities. There are currently just over 100 active, associate and honorary members. Jenny Rose Carey is an avid hands-on gardener, brought up in England by a family of gardeners and botanists. Jenny will take guests on a visual tour of her gardens of "Northview" in Amber, PA.
