2026 Polar Bear Plunge
January 30th - February 5th; Sandy Point State Park, Annapolis
Dive into one of Maryland’s most iconic winter traditions and be part of something truly meaningful at the Polar Bear Plunge, supporting Special Olympics Maryland. For nearly three decades, thousands of brave plungers have taken the icy leap to help create powerful moments of inclusion, joy, and community across the state. Plunges will still take place on Friday and Saturday, while the Cool School Plunge has been rescheduled for February 4 and 5. Every splash helps fund year-round sports and leadership programs for more than 25,000 athletes and Unified® teammates—at no cost to them or their families. With 100% of donations going directly to these life-changing programs, it’s cold, it’s bold, and it’s all for an incredible cause.
4th Thursdays Line Dancing 2026

Whether you’re brand new or just a little rusty, the evening kicks off with easy, welcoming instruction to get everyone comfortable and moving. Once you’ve got the steps down, it’s time to hit the floor and put those new skills to work as the music keeps rolling and the vibe stays upbeat. Expect a lively crowd, a supportive atmosphere, and nonstop boot-scootin’ fun that’ll have you turning, twirling, and grinning all night long.

Legends brings an evening of sweeping orchestral storytelling to the stage with a powerful program inspired by iconic figures, both real and imagined. Led by conductor José-Luis Novo, the concert features world-renowned soprano Christine Goerke performing Richard Strauss’s deeply moving Vier letzte Lieder, alongside dramatic and expressive works by Debussy, Strauss, and Copland. From the dreamlike beauty of Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune to the fiery energy of Don Juan and the unmistakably American spirit of Billy the Kid, this program moves effortlessly between romance, drama, and grandeur. Performances take place Friday and Saturday evenings at Maryland Hall and Sunday afternoon at The Music Center at Strathmore, offering multiple chances to experience this unforgettable night of music. Church Hill Theatre Offering Basic Acting Skills for Students (BASS)
January 31; Churchill Theatre, Churchill 9:00am – 2:00pm
Church Hill Theatre’s Basic Acting Skills for Students (BASS) program gives young performers the chance to step into the spotlight and build confidence through theatre. Designed for students in 1st through 8th grades, this engaging series of Saturday workshops introduces improvisation, character development, scene work, and musical theatre dance and vocals in a fun, supportive environment. Led by program founder and experienced educator Becca Van Aken, along with guest instructors from the Church Hill Theatre community, students explore storytelling, movement, and song while learning the fundamentals of acting. The program begins January 31, 2026, and concludes with a special performance for family and friends on February 28. Classes are offered in two age groups—grades 1–4 and grades 5–8—with registration opening online December 10, 2025.
