Oyster Roast and Sock Burning
March 16th, 6:30 p.m.; Stage & Screen Studios, Millersville
The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser for the Alliance where our staff selects 10-15 short films for our audiences to enjoy. Films highlight topics related to nature, community activism, adventure, conservation, water, energy and climate change, wildlife, environmental justice, agriculture, Native American, and indigenous culture. Overall, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival is designed to inspire a love for nature and activate audiences to take action in their communities through film and art.
Easton's St Patrick's Day Parade
March 17th, 5 p.m.; Downtown Easton
The Easton Saint Patrick's Day Parade starts at 5:30 p.m. and features over 40 floats, bands, classic cars, and local businesses. The Annual Potato Races take place downtown immediately following the parade. Come celebrate with us on Saint Patrick's Day.

March 18th; Annapolis Maritime Museum
Celebrate the spring equinox and the beginning of boating season each March by burning those nasty winter socks at the Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning. In a tradition dating back to the late-1970s, Annapolitans relieve themselves of the necessities of winter as the “Burn Your Socks” is recited. Live music is provided by popular local bands such as Naptown Brass Band and the Eastport Oyster Boys. All you-can-eat oysters, a shucking contest provides a chance to show your shucking prowess, and for the young at heart, there will be fun activities and exhibits highlighting the area’s unique maritime heritage and the importance of the oyster to the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

CBMM currently has a wide variety of volunteer roles available across its campus for people of all backgrounds, interests, and experience. 57th Annual Gem, Mineral, Fossil and Jewelry Show
March 18th, 11 a.m.; Montgomery County Agricultural Fairgrounds, Gaithersburg
Many kids activities, including free minerals. Demonstrations of faceting, physics and beading. 20+ vendors of minerals, fossils, gems and jewelry. 40+ exhibits by club members. On March 18th from 12 – 5pm, they’ll meet & greet fans, sign pictures, and have a good time! Event is first come, first serve. Exact location will be announced week of the event. In addition to the meet & greet, they're also looking for 200 people to film YouTube videos with them after the mall closes! The chosen participants will have a chance to win their share of $100,000!

International Anime Music Festival

The 2023 International Anime Music Festival is an immersive live concert experience starring the world’s leading anime pop stars, together on stage for the first time. A live DJ-led multimedia concert rave, featuring state-of-the-art LED and high-definition digital projections, combined with lighting, lasers, and other visual effects to create a spectacular visual environment in which the anime pop stars will perform their biggest hit songs.
Healthy Forests Program: Invasive Plant Removal Workday
March 19th, 10 a.m. to Noon; Bacon Ridge Natural Area, Crownsville
Protect the health of your local forest: Join Scenic Rivers Land Trust at Bacon Ridge Natural Area in Crownsville to spend a morning removing English Ivy from trees along the trails! Scenic Rivers’ Healthy Forests Program engages community volunteers to help protect the long-term vitality of our largest conservation easement located within Bacon Ridge Natural Area. Our first workday of the 2023 season will focus on English Ivy (Hedera helix L.). This aggressive invader threatens vegetation at all levels of the forest from the ground up into the forest canopy. With its evergreen foliage, English Ivy should be easy to spot in mid-March before spring color arrives.

This 19th- century Seneca Falls pioneer and champion of Woman’s Rights stood out because she had several things other suffragists lacked: a husband, seven children, tremendous writing ability, and a wicked sense of humor. She was also Susan B. Anthony’s best friend and Anthony would not have become famous without her. Learn about her amazing fight to improve women’s education, clothes, and legal rights, and why she has largely been forgotten.
Muddy Creek Artists Guild Paint Your Pet
March 21st, 6 p.m.; Deale Elks Lodge, Annapolis
This three-hour Muddy Creek Artists Guild event will feature how to make a portrait of your favorite pet with artist Bonnie McLeod. No experience necessary, all supplies provided, including acrylic paints of all colors, including luminescent, metallic and glow-in-the-dark! You only need to bring an 8" x 11" paper print of a photo of your pet. Bonnie will teach you , step by step, how to transform your own photo of your pet into a painting. Feel free to paint whatever animal you like! Snacks and beverages are available at the Elks Lodge bar, adjacent to the art room.
