2023 will be the 39th running of the 475 mile biennial Annapolis-Newport Race. However, the race has existed in various forms back to 1871, 1875, and 1879 when it went from Sandy Hook to Cape May with two to five entries each race. After a big time gap, it was raced again in 1927-33 and 1939 from New London, CT to Gibson Island, MD. In 1941, the race was from New London to Hampton, VA, and during the same year, a Newport-Annapolis race was promoted, but World War II intervened. The Annapolis-Newport race was officially established in 1947 to be on a continuing basis in alternate years with the Newport-Bermuda Race. Attached is a 1947 Baltimore Sun article on the race. Until the mid-50s, it was the Newport-Annapolis race, but after much complaining by the competitors about slow trips up the Chesapeake after a long ocean race, the course was reversed in 1957.

28th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser for UM Shore Medical Center

Our annual golf tournament raises funds for the highest priority project or equipment to benefit the people proudly served at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. 22nd Annual Maryland Federation of Art Paint Annapolis

Paint Annapolis is a week-long, juried, plein-air painting competition held each year that brings artists to Annapolis from around the world. 'En plein air' refers to the artist painting outdoors in real-time while amidst the elements. The event, now in its 22nd year, is designed to explore in paint the unique colonial architecture, marine atmosphere, and overall energy of Maryland's capital. Day and night, you will see dozens of artists across the city painting on the street, demonstrating their talents.
Providence's 30th Anniversary Moran Golf Classic

We’re challenging you to use your legs to run (or walk) the Annapolis Town Center for 24 hours, 1 hour, or anything in-between to raise funds for Danny’s Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Contributions raised from this event will be directed towards purposes and causes that could help change the course of addiction in Anne Arundel County.
