Engage in a farm-to-table journey highlighting how 17th-19th century Marylanders made, preserved, and ate dairy. Using architectural evidence from the Riversdale House Museum dairy, foodways historian Joyce White shares documentation of the butter-making business Rosalie Calvert ran in the early 1800s, the thriving dairy farm operated by her son, Charles Benedict Calvert, and references to the combined enslaved and free dairy workers who completed these labor-intensive tasks. Enjoy a discussion on common butter and cheese-making procedures, popular dairy imports, and several historic dairy recipes.

Kick off the weekend with the great feeling that comes with doing good and important work! Join our Field Work Fridays at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary. Every Friday rain or shine, volunteers join staff naturalists to tackle a stewardship project in need of support. Projects include invasive plant removals, trash clean-ups, gardening, citizen science monitoring, and more. Volunteers are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy after our work is completed. No prior training or experience is necessary to join our Field Work Fridays! Free. Ages 8 and up, minors must be accompanied by a guardian. Registration is required.

Operation ARTS Foundation Inc in partnership with Sonor Wines America would like to announce a new innovative contest for creatives! We have extended our original deadline to open the opportunity to more artists in the area! This creative contest is called the Sonor Wines America - Music competition, where musicians of all genres will compete for prizes and the chance to have their music infused into wine! This is a juried show with an entry fee of $20 and is a tax-deductible contribution. Proceeds go towards the artist prize and also towards funding the wine festival post-pandemic. The winners of the contest will be announced during our live virtual event hosted on June 25th from 7-9 PM on Facebook Live and YouTube. Chesapeake Maritime Museum Heritage Festival

On the fourth Sunday of June each year, the Chestertown Lions Club welcomes cyclists to its summer bicycling challenge, the Bay to Bay ride. The tour consists of five routes between 26 and 102 miles in length. The flat loop routes take in the scenery of the heartland of the Upper Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware including farmlands, old country homes, quaint towns, and great country stores. The 26-mile ride goes through historic Chestertown for those who want a less challenging ride.
