Excitement is just around the corner! The 143rd Maryland State Fair, open for three big weekends this summer: Aug. 22-25; Aug. 29- Sept. 2; and, Sept. 5-8. The Maryland State Fair is a fun and educational destination sure to captivate visitors of all ages. The Maryland State Fair is complete with daily home arts, farm and garden, livestock and horse competitions and exhibits, rides, games, live concerts and entertainment, live Thoroughbred horse racing, fair treats and farm fresh foods, the U-Learn Agriculture Education Zone, The Birthing Center, a museum, and more. Tides & Tunes Summer Concert Series

Crofton's 60th Anniversary Celebration
August 23rd; Prince George's Stadium, Bowie
Crofton is celebrating 60 years at Prince George's Stadium during the Bowie Baysox game versus Erie Seawolves at 7:05 p.m. on August 23rd. There will be a kids base run post game and more to celebrate.
August 24th, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Eastport Yacht Club, Annapolis
Join in the fun at Kids on the Creek to celebrate and learn about Spa Creek. It is free for the community with free boat rides, food and drinks, games, Bay arts and crafts and more!
Friends of Quiet Waters Park Concert Series
August 24th, 5:30 p.m.; Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis
Enjoy a variety of music including Blues, Funk, Rock, Country, and Latin to name a few. Concerts will start on July 20th, Saturday Evenings at the Park Stage. Unique among most festivals, including renaissance festivals, the Maryland Renaissance Festival utilizes a storyline and progresses each year forward in the timeline of Henry VIII, through all his reign and all six of his wives. This season the year is 1536, and as ever, the King’s love life is the source of gossip. The royal story is played out in stage shows and in improvisations throughout the festival grounds.

The Annapolis Ten Mile Run is a 10-mile foot race organized by the Annapolis Striders, Inc., a 1000 member, all volunteer, non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, established in 1978, in Annapolis Maryland that promotes physical fitness and mental well-being through distance running. The race is conducted according to the road racing guidelines of the Road Runners Club of America.
Anne Arundel County River Days Festival
August 25th, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Quiet Waters Park, Annapolis
This summer the Anne Arundel County Executive’s Office will host five River Days festivals at different waterfront locations throughout the county. Each festival will feature fun activities for all ages, including water activities, environmental educators, boat rides, live music, food trucks, games, crafts, face painting, county agencies, and more.

Annapolis Science Cafe @ 49 West: "Oysters and Friends: The Bay Bottom’s Very Odd Neighborhood" by Mr. Chris Judy, Director, Shellfish Division, Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Oysters are very popular, both as a delicious meal and also as an important part of the Bay’s ecosystem. Oysters enrich the bay bottom by producing hard shell habitat and creating “live bottom” - a diverse community of fish, crabs, and numerous odd and intriguing creatures. Come and get acquainted with oysters and their interesting neighbors.
"Stardust by the Bushel" Author Presentation

Author Brent Lewis is presenting his book Stardust by the Bushel, a book that will teach you everything you need to know regarding the famous residents who once lived on Delmarva and the major motion pictures produced here. Lewis, a native of the Eastern Shore, will tell you about the many hidden Hollywood gems that can be found along our sandy shores.

August 31st; Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michaels
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will host its annual Charity Boat Auction on Saturday, Aug. 31, inviting guests to its waterfront campus to bid on donated vessels of all shapes and sizes in support of its mission. Dozens of boats and watercraft, ranging in size and performance, will be auctioned off to the highest bidders with no minimums or reserves. The gates open at 8am for this rain-or-shine event. Every sale through the Charity Boat Donation Program directly supports CBMM’s mission of preserving the history, environment, and culture of the Chesapeake Bay region and making this resource available to all.
