Annapolis Science Cafe @ 49 West: "Oysters and Friends: The Bay Bottom’s Very Odd Neighborhood" by Mr. Chris Judy, Director, Shellfish Division, Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Oysters are very popular, both as a delicious meal and also as an important part of the Bay’s ecosystem. Oysters enrich the bay bottom by producing hard shell habitat and creating “live bottom” - a diverse community of fish, crabs, and numerous odd and intriguing creatures. Come and get acquainted with oysters and their interesting neighbors.

Navy Football Home Game vs Bucknell
August 31st, Noon; Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis
Navy and Bucknell will meet on the gridiron for the 15th time when the two square off on CBS Sports Network on Saturday afternoon (12 noon) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Saturday's game marks the first time these two schools have met since 1925 when Navy won 13-7. The previous 14 meetings have all taken place in Annapolis. Bucknell's last win over Navy came in 1924 by a score of 6-0. The Navy-Bucknell series began in 1898 with Navy winning 11-0.
August 31st; Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michaels
The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will host its annual Charity Boat Auction on Saturday, Aug. 31, inviting guests to its waterfront campus to bid on donated vessels of all shapes and sizes in support of its mission. Dozens of boats and watercraft, ranging in size and performance, will be auctioned off to the highest bidders with no minimums or reserves. The gates open at 8am for this rain-or-shine event. Every sale through the Charity Boat Donation Program directly supports CBMM’s mission of preserving the history, environment, and culture of the Chesapeake Bay region and making this resource available to all.

Join us for a unique fishing event that celebrates restored oyster reefs and the difference they make for healthy, diverse populations of Chesapeake Bay reef fish, sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Chesapeake Oyster Alliance, and Coastal Conservation Association Maryland. The Rod & Reef Slam fishing tournament is unlike any other. You don't just win by catching the biggest fish. To celebrate the vast biodiversity oyster reefs support, prizes are instead awarded for how many different species you catch (and release), including invasives. Anglers of all skill levels fish on a multitude of restored reef locations throughout Maryland's portion of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and record their catches in the tournament app.
Navy Football Home Game vs Temple

American Legion Riders Project 226

On September 7th, 2024, the ALR chapter is hosting an all-day event to bring attention to the tragedy of veteran suicide. "ALR Project 226" is an initiative to raise $50,000 to support the critical cause. This will be an unforgettable experience, featuring celebrity guests, family activities, delicious food, and live music throughout the day. The goal is not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness and provide a platform for open discussions about veteran mental health.
The 14th Wendi Winters Memorial Blood Drive
September 7th, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Crowne Plaza Annapolis Hotel
Since the horrific Capital Gazette shooting on June 28, 2018, there have been thirteen blood drives in memory of American Red Cross blood drive volunteer and journalist, Wendi Winters. Wendi tragically lost her life, alongside four others, in the workplace shooting. This blood drive is anticipated to collect around 200 pints of blood to help ensure those in the hospital due to an emergency, difficult childbirth or complicated surgery receive the blood products they need to survive.

Without farms, there would be no beer so we're sending well wishes to our farms and farmers on Sunday, September 8th from 11am-3pm at the Queen Anne's County 4-H Park in Centerville. A $5 admission will give residents a chance to shake the hands that produce our agriculture, as well as enjoy food & festivities including the Blessing of the Combines. In addition to local food trucks and beer from all five of QAC's breweries, we'll have local vendors, music and with any luck, some four-legged friends from the farm. Shore Party Rentals will also host an inflatable zone for the kids for an additional cost.
