Hospice of the Chesapeake Family Night

Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival XXXIX

Hundreds of amateur and professional boatbuilders and enthusiasts come from all over the region to display their one-of-a-kind kayaks, canoes, and other traditional small craft. During the festival, CBMM guests can marvel at the craftsmanship and innovation used in traditional and contemporary small craft while enjoying CBMM’s waterfront campus and indoor and outdoor exhibitions. Sailing skiffs, rowing shells, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, prams, and one-of-a-kind boats will be on display and in the water throughout this family-oriented event. Small craft owners hailing from all over the country will also be available to share their knowledge and boating experiences with guests.
Celebrate America Annapolis Symphony Orchestra

Incidental music by Schubert immortalized the now largely forgotten play by Helmina von Chézy about Cypriot princess Rosamunde seeking to reclaim her lost throne. Co-commissioned by a collection of orchestras, Lowell Liebermann’s cello concerto was first heard by audiences in Toledo, Ohio and reviewed by the Toledo Blade as “simply beautiful…The orchestrations are richly complex, replete with color, and underlay the solo role of the cello perfectly: balanced, tasteful and resilient.” Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 is superbly adjusted, intensely expressive music in which melodies appear in almost limitless supply, music fired by a vigorous lyrical Bohemian spirit, warmed by tenderness but never smothered by sentimentality.
2022 Live Chesapeake Film Festival

The 2022 LIVE Chesapeake Film Festival gets underway September 30 with a VIP reception at the Eastern Shore Conservation Center, just as it did in 2021. Last year, our VIPS - including those pictured here - enjoyed appetizers catered by Blue Heron and beverages from Hair o' the Dog while they visited with filmmakers and friends. VIP tickets admit the holders to this robust reception and ALL the films in the Live Festival (Sept. 30 through Oct. 2). VIP ticket sales help cover the costs of the LIVE festival and make it possible for CFF to keep the VIRTUAL Festival (Oct. 3 through 9) free! Casey Cares Foundation 4th Annual Sporting Clay Tournament

The Casey Cares Foundation will host the 4th Annual Sporting Clay Tournament on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Point at Pintail. The outing includes a light breakfast, lunch, raffles, prizes, and more! Companies are encouraged to build teams of up to four members though teams of two and individuals are allowed. Not only will it be a fun day of friendly competition, but event will also raise much-needed funding for the Casey Cares Foundation, which provides ongoing and uplifting programs for families with critically ill kids.

The Gunston School’s third annual Heron Hustle 5K/1M Fun Run will be held on Saturday, October 1 on the school’s 35-acre waterfront campus, offering participants beautiful views of the Corsica River and surrounding area. Partnering with Tricycle and Run, the race will begin at 8 a.m. and prizes will be awarded for those who choose to compete in the following categories: Male/Open - Top 3 ages 18+ and Top 3 under 18; Female/Open - Top 3 ages 18+ and Top 3 under 18 for both the 5K and the 1 Mile Fun Run. Additional recognition will be given for fastest 9th grader, 10th grader, 11th grader, and 12th grader. All who sign up, whether competing in-person or from afar will receive a limited edition Heron Hustle t-shirt with original design by Gunston alumna Alison Hansford ’96. All proceeds benefit the school’s Heron Annual Fund which directly supports students and faculty by offsetting operating costs and making up the difference between what tuition covers and the actual cost of providing a Gunston education, as well as supporting the annual $1.5 million in scholarships awarded annually.

Swim and Paddle the South River

Paddle to benefit the Arundel Rivers Federation and the efforts it takes to protect and promote healthy water on the South, Rhode, and West Rivers in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Or, Swim the 5-mile continuous loop — complete solo or as a relay! Additionally, a lifeguard supported 800-meter course is available for participants interested in staying close to shore. Swim and Paddle check-ins and safety briefings are staggered and begin at 6:30 AM for the 5-mile entrants. Lifeline 100 Community Bicycle Event

Please join Anne Arundel Department of Recreation & Parks, Anne Arundel County Police and Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis and Anne Arundel County (BikeAAA) on October 2, 2022 for the eighth annual Lifeline 100 Community Bicycle Event! This year marks the 8th Anniversary of the Anne Arundel County Lifeline 100! What began to showcase Anne Arundel County’s scenic trails and roadways, and spotlight cycling awareness, safety and its benefits, has grown every year into a celebrated annual event drawing hundreds of cyclists of all ages and abilities and supporters from around the Mid-Atlantic. Last year the event reached its maximum capacity of 1,000 riders from ages 4 to 84 of all levels and abilities. The event has now raised more than $250,000 for local non-profits! The 2022 Lifeline 100 will be on Sunday, October 2nd. We will again offer 100 and 65 mile scenic routes with views of the Severn River, Chesapeake Bay, historic Annapolis and more. The 30 and 15 mile flat, paved trail routes are great for riders of all ages and abilities including families, adaptive bikes and people with special needs who can register at a 2 for 1 rate with their accompanying rider. All routes are fully-supported with route maps and markings, rest stops and SAG vehicles.

Food insecurity affects more than 51,000 people in Anne Arundel County, including 1 in 3 students are food insecure in our county. During the Harvest for the Hungry–Kids Helping Kids campaign, schools and business partners contribute food and funding to support the Anne Arundel County Food Bank.
One dollar purchases eight pounds of food. With your help, we can provide them with food during these difficult times. All proceeds benefit the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. We are counting on the generosity of our local community to raise funds to ensure that no child in Anne Arundel County goes to bed hungry.
